Elaine Weidman Grunewald is a founder of the AI Sustainability Center, where she leads the center and manages overall operations and relations together with Anna Felländer.
Elaine is an expert on global sustainability and development, with which she has worked for over two decades in the private sector. Focusing on digitalization and sustainable development challenges, she pioneered the concept of Technology for Good. Elaine is a frequent speaker at conferences including the World Economic Forum and the United Nations, and has been actively engaged in the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the Business and Sustainable Development Commission.
Most recently, Elaine was SVP and Chief Sustainability and Public Affairs Officer at Ericsson, and a member of the Executive Team, where she also headed the company’s humanitarian and disaster response program.
Apart from being co-founder to the AI Sustainability Center, Elaine is active as a Board member of SWECO AB, an environmental architecture and consulting firm that designs communities and cities of the future, as well as Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, which focuses on the importance of youth empowerment in peacebuilding.
Elaine holds a double Master’s degree in International Relations from Boston University’s Center for Energy & Environmental Studies and Resource & Environmental Management.
